Before a Reiki session, ask the practitioner what information they need and why. You can discuss practical preferences without feeling obliged to share a detailed personal history.
Be clear about touch. Ask whether the session includes light touch or hands held above the body, and state which approach you are comfortable with. You can also ask which areas are included and decline any part of the format.
Discuss whether you would sit or lie down, whether pillows or chairs are available and whether you can change position. Mention access requirements that affect the appointment. If something about the setting concerns you, ask about it before the session begins.
You can change your mind about participation during the appointment. Clear communication is useful without needing to describe a particular feeling or expected benefit. Reiki should not be presented as a diagnosis or a promised treatment result. Choose whether to attend based on an explanation you understand and arrangements that suit you.
