What Can You Write in a Meditation Journal?

A meditation journal can hold simple notes about a practice you have tried. It does not need to be a scorecard or a record of how successfully you cleared your mind.

Start with the date, the format and roughly how long you chose to practise. Note whether you used a recording, observed your surroundings or followed guidance in a group. These details can help you remember what the session involved.

Then describe your experience in your own words. You might record that the room was noisy, the instructions were easy to follow or the seat did not suit you. There is no need to make the entry sound profound or find a benefit to report.

Finish with a practical preference for next time, such as a shorter recording or a different chair. You can leave the journal alone for a while and return when you want to. The notes belong to you and do not have to show a pattern of improvement.
