Theta Healing: How Does the Practice Differ from Theta Brainwaves?

Theta healing and theta brainwaves use the same word in different contexts. ThetaHealing is a named spiritual practice whose organisation describes it through thought, prayer and beliefs about a Creator. Theta brainwaves are a category used when describing patterns of electrical brain activity.

What does the scientific term describe?

Brain activity can be recorded using an electroencephalogram, or EEG. Terms including alpha, beta, theta and delta describe frequency groupings in that activity. A spiritual service using the word theta is not the same thing as an EEG recording.

Why does the distinction matter?

Sharing a term does not demonstrate that an appointment produces a particular recorded brainwave pattern or a health outcome. A description of beliefs, a report of personal experience and a measured observation are different kinds of information.

Asking about a session

Ask which spiritual ideas are included, what the conversation involves and whether the approach fits your preferences. This article explains the distinction in terminology; it does not claim that ThetaHealing changes brain activity or provides medical treatment.
