Sound Bath: Preparing for Your First Experience

A sound bath usually centres on listening to instruments such as singing bowls. Before attending, ask the organiser what will be played and whether the event involves sitting, lying down or a choice of both.

Check whether a mat, cushion or blanket is supplied. Wear clothes that suit the venue and allow you to sit comfortably. Ask about access, parking and arrival time so you can plan the visit without rushing.

Sound levels and individual preferences vary. Tell the organiser if you have concerns about particular sounds, volume or lying on the floor, and ask whether you can sit further away or leave quietly. There is no required response to the experience. Check current event information with the organiser rather than assuming that a session is available on a particular date.
