Tarot and astrology are combined in some reading traditions through symbolic correspondences. A reader may associate cards with planets, zodiac signs or elements. Other readers use tarot without these connections. The method depends on the deck and the tradition being followed.
What is a correspondence?
A correspondence is an association within a particular system. It can give a reader another layer of vocabulary for discussing a card. It is not a physical property of the card or evidence that the association determines events.
Does it require a birth chart?
A tarot reader might use astrological symbolism without drawing up a birth chart. A separate astrological interpretation may use birth details. Ask whether those details are needed, why they are being requested and which parts of the session use them.
Comparing different approaches
Deck guidebooks and readers may explain associations differently. If a reference is unfamiliar, ask how it relates to the question being discussed. Combining two systems does not establish greater accuracy; it changes the interpretive framework and the language of the reading.
